'Think Pink' Update

A big THANK YOU to all those who contributed to this very successful exhibition in aid of Breast Cancer Research.

I would just like to say an enormous THANK YOU for your contribution to our ‘Think Pink’ exhibition. I was totally overwhelmed by the response we had to this event and cannot thank you enough for all your time and hard work. I am really pleased to say that the event raised over £2,300 and all of this has gone to Cancer Research UK. On the final day ladies from the Breast Cancer Support Group, Cancer Research and not quite Securicor (!) but a Bank Manager, all came to count all the money for the penny voting, etc. No expenses were taken out at all and after discussing with various people I felt the money was best to go to Cancer Research UK, which includes Breast Cancer, so that it helps everyone and hopefully one day finds a way to prevent this terrible disease.

Not all of the items got sold, so if you live locally they are ready for collection, and the rest are in the post. Possibly, because we are all quilters, we very often gain ideas rather than purchasing.

The Pink Quilt is still being raffled (until October 20th) but at the end of the exhibition it was up to approx. £1,200, which is fantastic.

The work that was entered was of such a high quality and I am pleased to announce the winners of the penny voting categories, as follows:

1) Cushion: Rebecca Chubb from Whitstone
2) Small Quilt/Wallhanging: Margaret Hamilton from Gwynedd
3) Large Quilt/Wallhanging: Jo Hendy from Holsworthy
4) Quilters’ Guild Member: Margaret Hamilton from Gwynedd
5) Group quilt: Monday Night Girls (the very first group Jo started in 1988)
6) Other: Jan Whitehouse from St Mellion

Again thank you all so much for helping in so many ways to make this such a wonderful exhibition. I am sorry it has taken me a few days to get all the quilts back to you; it’s a shame that the FOQ came right after and my family were staying from Norway, not to mention the odd few days of harvest because the good weather came for 2 minutes!

Very best wishes to you all,
JO and all at Cowslip
