Embroidery for Beginners
This is the postponed workshop from May 2020.
This is a workshop for anyone who is new to hand embroidery and who would like to spend the day learning the basics. In the morning I will teach several basic stitches, giving you plenty of time to practice. Your stitches will form pages which can be made into a little sampler book for you to refer to at home. In the afternoon you will start on an embroidery, based on the stitches you have learnt. I will give you a Spring picture for you to start stitching on, based on one of the embroideries from my journal “A country diary of a Lizzybethan lady.” Think hazel catkins, grape hyacinths, bluebells, hawthorn, primroses etc At the end of the day I will give you ideas on how you can finish off and present your embroidery.
student requirements
A basic sewing kit with needles and small embroidery scissors.
I will have a pack made up for each of you containing fabric and stranded embroidery silks, which you will use during the workshop. Cost £5 payable on the day.
Notebook and pen/pencil
This is one of three workshops that I am running in the Spring. If you intend to come to more than one workshop, the format of the day will be the same but I will be teaching different stitches and you will have a different picture to work on.
