Embroidery for Beginners - A Coastal Landscape

£60.00

1 Day Workshop

Thu, 23rd November, 2023

10:00am - 4:00pm

This is a workshop for anyone who would like to learn (or revisit) hand embroidery and who would like to spend the day practising stitches and how to apply them to their work.

In the morning I will show you how to do several stitches and there will be plenty of opportunity to practise them on a sampler.  For those who have been to a previous workshop or know how to do a particular stitch I will show you variations to practise.

In the afternoon you will start on an embroidered picture, based on the stitches you have learnt. The picture will have a coastal theme - I’m walking the south west coast path and I’m inspired by the wonderful wildflowers that I’m seeing.

During the day I will also show you how I use my photos and convert them into backgrounds for embroideries using Inktense paints - you may be inspired to have a go!

I will provide you with a kit (£10 payable on the day) - this will include fabric for sampler, fabric with a painted background, 6 full skeins of stranded threads, a window card for displaying your finished work and full instructions so that you can complete the embroidery at home.

Student requirements:

A basic sewing kit with needles and small embroidery scissors

Notebook and pencil

This is number three of three workshops that I am running in the autumn.  If you would like to come to more than one workshop, the format of the day will be the same but I will teach you different stitches.  Also, the kits will contain different shades of threads and the picture will be a different coastal landscape.
