Landscape Explored
Using a selection of chosen fabrics make a colourful strippy landscape which is then set into a sympathetic background. The work comes to life when quilting is added, both by machine and hand. Ideal for including precious scraps and interesting threads.
STUDENT REQUIREMENTS
Fabrics
- 1 fat quarter of green fabric and 1 fat quarter of blue fabric both of which will be used as a background for your landscape and should be mottled or plain rather than patterned
- for the landscape strip a collection of greens, browns, oranges and other landscape colours, plain and patterned. They need to be at least 8" wide. Bring plenty so you have a good choice to work with,
- two or three blues for the sky, again at least 8" wide
- scrap of yellow for the sun
- 1metre backing fabric and wadding to match
Equipment
- sewing machine and including foot for free machine quilting, or walking foot
- cutting board, ruler and cutter
- sewing notions - scissors, needles etc
- machine thread to match fabrics
- hand stitching threads
