Paint into Stitch

. Caroline will bring various design ideas and templates, from which you can choose something to paint on linen. It might be birds, or flowers, or a small landscape. Once the scene is painted, you will start to add stitching, whether by machine or by hand. The problem might be that you enjoy the painting too much!

Student Requirements
A few embroidery needles - I find the pink John James pebbles Cowslip sells are perfect.

A 5” or 6” embroidery hoop

A pincushion - we change threads frequently

A pair of small, sharp embroidery scissors

A notebook and pencil

A friction pen

An apron

A sewing machine (if wanting to use & please make sure it has been recently PAT tested) with feed dogs down and free motion embroidery foot, and a few machine needles( essential)

Those of you familiar with Caroline’s workshops will know that she brings with her a generous selection of precious vintage textiles to use in the workshops, and makes her collection of vintage and new threads for both machine and hand stitching available to all at a cost of £5 payable to Caroline on the day. You may of course bring and use your own materials if you prefer.
