Pet Portraits

During this 2 day workshop you will create a gorgeous pet portrait wall hanging or cushion cover which would make a perfect Christmas present for a loved or yourself! Bring along a full frontal head shot of your favourite pet or animal and learn how to draw this up into a pattern to work from. We will use the technique of raw edge appliqué to make the piece and you will get the chance to use bright vibrant fabrics.

If you like to use technology an iPad can be used for drawing the pattern (which I can teach you how to do). If not blow your photograph up to the size you would like to work at and tape the sections together. Larger sizes are actually easier to work with. I make my wall hangings about 22” x 28” and my cushions about 12” x 18”.

Requirements

Sewing Machine (day 2 only)

3 yards of HeatnBond Lite (for wall hanging) or 1.5 yards for cushion

3 solid fat quarters for background

7 patterned fat quarters for face

1 yard of calico

Scraps of solid black, grey and white for eyes, nose and mouth.

2 sheets of baking parchment

Sharp fabric scissors

Drawing materials (pencil, rubber, sellotape and a pad of tracing paper.)

PLEASE if you are unwell and/or presenting with Covid symptoms or coming from a household where

anyone has symptoms or a positive test you must not come to your class. You will not be penalised

and we will keep a credit for you to use another time.

All students will have their temperature taken before entry to the classroom and need to sign a form.

Sanitisers are to be used on entry to classroom, shop and café and are available on all tables.

Students are to bring their own cup.

You must bring all your own equipment as there will be no sharing of anything to avoid cross contamination.

QR code can be scanned on site for those with the NHS Track & Trace app.

Face masks or coverings must be worn at all times in the classroom. We do have face shields for £2.50.
