2 Day Workshop

Dig out an old dining chair, small bench, stool, chicken wire cupboard or lamp base and transform it with a new coat of paint!, make a garden cushion, bunting or table cloth/napkins with simple bonded applique flowers, a simple throw for a picnic or special celebration, make something from nothing as simple or as complicated as the occasion demands.    Big Fun…..Simple ideas for a summer party or wedding

Student requirements

Item to be painted (pre-prepared if possible)

Basic sewing kit to include: paper and fabric scissors, pins, sewing threads to match, etc

Sewing machine in good working order, with instruction book.

Tracing paper, template card, fine black felt pen, Pritt stick or glue, pencil & note book

Fabrics: Enough fabric to make your cushion, which might include a frill or piping. We have continuous zipping in ecru only, so buy a zip if you need a matching colour.  Scrap bag if you want to appliqué a motif on your cushion, i.e. rabbit, summer fruit, leaves or flowers for a garden chair

If wanting to make a summer table cloth bring a square of fabric the correct size and pieces of fabric for appliqué like leaves or fruit or flowers.  A picture or drawing if you have a favorite.

Bondaweb/Steam-a-Seam for appliqué, plus approx. 1 metre of 2oz polyester wadding

Please wear old clothes and bring gloves and dust mask if required, plus old newspapers, 1/2” flat paint brush, couple of jam jars or ice cream container, fine/medium sandpaper, old washed cloth for polishing

Included in the class fee will be a selection of Colourman paints, sealer and wax.  We might need to mix the colour for you, but if you have a specific paint or colour type please bring your own.
