Mariners Compass EXTRA DAY

This is one of my favorite blocks. It is a wonderful traditional block that can be interpreted in so many ways with the use of a variety of fabrics: reproduction, traditional, modern and contemporary. You can make one block and use it as the center of a Medallion quilt center or make more blocks using all kinds of fabrics. We will discuss the fabrics you have chosen to see what the possibilities are as well as how great the result is when fussy cutting your fabric for the compass points. I would recommend using the Mariners Compass template set. It gives a great accurate result as well for hand as for machine work.

Student requirements

6 fabrics different the compass. I would recommend to buy fat quarters.

· 1 fat quarter for background of the total compass

· Optional Mariners Compass template set·

Sharp scissors

· Needles and pins

· Cotton thread to sew with

· A marking pen

· When you decide to cut with a rotary cutter you will need of course a rotary cutter and a cutting mat. I would advise a small rotary cutter for the small pieces
