Fields and Cottages, felt and stitch
As you drive through Devon & Cornwall you can’t fail to be impressed by the rolling hills and patchwork-like landscapes, with pretty cottages to be found round every corner. Textile Artist Jill Denton returns to Cowslip to teach a 2 day workshop based on our beautiful countryside. On day 1 you will create your own felted landscape, using mostly previously prepared prefelts supplied by the tutor, in the signature style she has developed over many years. This landscape will be applied to a prefelt background and wetfelted, leaving it to dry overnight. The second day will be spent stitching into and further developing your work. It is not necessary to have experience of feltmaking for this workshop as the tutor will guide you through the process.
Student Requirements
Sewing kits, needles, pins, sharp scissors
Embroidery threads/ crewel yarns etc for hand stitching
Any prefelts or small pieces of open weave fabric (silk/viscose/cotton) you may want to incorporate in your artwork
2 hand towels
The tutor will provide all materials for this workshop (at a cost of £18 per student payable on the day,) and will bring a wide selection of fancy yarns and other bits and pieces for you to dip into.
