To the Lighthouse: A Magical Seascape

A one day workshop where the aim is to create a fun narrative around a lighthouse. Mermaids, sea creatures, a ghost ship or even a fish in the sky might inhabit a mysterious seascape. By imaginative use of fabrics, stitch, collage and appliqué we will  create an atmospheric.

picture or wall-hanging. There will be plenty of help and advise along the way and templates for those nervous of design.

There is also a Playday workshop on the Friday where there is the possibility of creating some of the dyeing and dissoluble fabric effects used in this project.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

Sewing machine

A selection of coloured threads.

Any fabrics you think are relevant to a seascape such as tie dye samples, marbled fabrics etc. A limited amount of dyed fabrics will also be available from the tutor at a small charge. (payable to Rachel on the day)

Scissors

A small hand sewing kit: pins, needles and a few silks for finishing touches.
