Linen Stitched Fabric Journal

£70.00

1 Day Workshop

Tue, 10th April, 2018

10:00am - 4:00pm

We will make a small journal, using antique French linens and textiles. You can either decorate the cover with stitching or make a pieced cover - the possibilities are endless. Inside, we will create and start to decorate ‘pages’ with simple embroidered designs, miniature pockets, swatches and buttons. Examples will be on hand to inspire you, and you can rummage through Caroline’s collection of antique textiles, screen printed fragments and haberdashery to help you create your pages. The uses for such a journal are many. You could record the first year of a child’s life in text and embroidery, or embroider a child’s favourite story through the pages, illustrating them with embroideries and appliqué. Or you could use it as a place to keep snippets of precious fabrics, alongside stitching practice. If you have several pieces of finished work, bring them with you as we can show you how to incorporate them in the journal’s pages. You won’t finish the journal on the day, but you will have an heirloom piece in the making to complete at home.
