Mayfair

MAYFAIR a quilt by Judy Newman

(1.6m x 1.6m – hand pieced and quilted)

Mayfair is hand pieced and hand quilted in Perle 8 thread.  It consists of 16 large squares connected at the corners

with plain fabrics to form a secondary pattern.  I have used a large and eclectic assortment of fabrics in this quilt,

it is full of colour and interest, it is a joy to make.  The class will include a tutorial on colour and pattern choices for this quilt.

There are acrylic templates available.

class requirements:

25cm of 8 shot cottons or plains

25cm of 8 fabrics in a variety of checks/stripes

16 fat 8ths for the large diamonds

A large assortment of colourful fabrics

(2m in total), these will be cut into small pieces

Bohin/Sewline pencil or similar

Applique mat or sandpaper board

I use Redwork No. 9 needles by Jeanna Kimball

Quilting thread for piecing

General sewing requirements, needles, pins etc.

Rotary cutting equipment (if preferred)

Acrylic templates are available for this quilt at a cost of £15 payable to Judy on the day.
