Christmas Cards, Decorations, Tags & Bunting
A Christmas workshop with a difference, make a collection of charming appliqué Christmas decorations to either hang around the house or on the Christmas tree, personalise them and use as gift tags on your presents this year or mount them on cards to give as a truly unique gifts or as bunting.
Student Requirements
Sewing machine: please bring with darning foot/open toe embroidery foot for free machine sewing, manual
Basic sewing kit: embroidery scissors, needles, pencil, pins, paper scissors
Machine threads: a selection of dark blue, purple, brown, green, red, grey, neutral, and a selection of bobbin threads to match your backing fabrics.
Fabric: Each decoration is made up of 4 layers, the design uses small pieces of colourful fabrics, use up old scraps or use a more simple colour palette the choice is yours. Adhere your design onto a lightweight calico or similar (i.e sheeting), add a little thickness with cotton batting and back with a bright felt (type found in children’s craft section), or hand dyed blanket.

3 100% cotton batting or old blanket
4 coloured felt, coloured flannelette, old jumper or blanket

Embellishments: use buttons, sequins, beads, little bells and sparkly threads to add interest.
Bring a selection of ribbons, thick or thin or use dark annealed wire 18-20 gauge to hang the decorations with. Pair of small round nosed pliers to manipulate wire.
Blank cards to mount your decorations on, square 5”x5” or rectangular 4”x6” either is fine. Alphabet stamp set, small inexpensive sets can be bought in The Range or Hobby Craft or online. Use with red, gold or navy blue ink pads to stamp your Christmas greeting on the card.
Washi tape, decorative tape from Japan that is taking the craft world by storm, use this fabulous tape to attach the little wire hangings onto the front of your cards.
